Lala Musa Circle DSP Shahid Nawaz Warraich recorded statements of policemen and a witness and sent a report to the Gujrat DPO for further action.
On Tuesday, relatives of a man, who had been arrested for robbery, held a protest demonstration against some policemen who allegedly assaulted and humiliated him.
They had accused ASI Imran Mehdi and Constables Zamurad and Irfan of assaulting him and photographing the incident.
The victim had threatened to kill himself if he did not get justice. Saddar SHO Shafqat Butt had visited the protest and assured the protesters that they would investigate the matter.
