
“Sadiq Gidani, who was wanted by police for several acts of terror, was shot dead in Lyari,” police sources told The Express Tribune.

Meanwhile, four people, including the Station House Officer (SHO) Napier and a woman, were injured as security forces traded fire with militants.
“SHO Napier Police Station Azam Khan, police constable Abdul Rahman, Rangers official Shakir Ullah, and Ghulshan Khatoon were injured during an exchange of fire between the gangsters and the police,” sources added.
The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital for medical treatment.
Earlier in August, an alleged video of the bullet-riddled corpse of Baba Ladla, one of Lyari's top gangsters, went viral on social media and was also telecast by some of the news channels confirming his violent death.

On May 13, 2014, The Express Tribune had carried a story quoting reliable sources from across the border that Baba Ladla had been intercepted and killed by Iranian security forces.
In June this year, at least three suspected members of the Lyari gang war were killed by Rangers and police in two separate encounters.
Acting on intelligence reports, Rangers conducted a joint operation with the police in Wichani Mohallah, Chakiwara and Lyari against criminals involved in gang war.
“Rangers killed three notorious gangsters after an exchange of fire, while few others managed to escape in the dark,” a Rangers official had told The Express Tribune.
The Rangers also conducted an intelligence driven joint targeted operation with collaboration of police at Bihar Colony against criminals of gang war. There, they were met with indiscriminate firing to which they responded and killed two criminals off.

The dead were identified as Anees, who was linked with Baba Ladla group and involved in 19 killings, extortion and snatching cases, along with Junaid, who was also linked with the same group.
