A man died in police custody on Saturday after he was caught and beaten by a mob in Khairpur Khadali.
A police spokesman said three men - Safdar, Ejaz and Hasnain – had broken into Sultan Chachar’s house late on Friday night. He said they were stealing valuables when Chachar’s family woke up and called for help. He said some neighbours responded promptly. Ejaz and Hasnain managed to escape but neighbours caught hold of Safdar, the spokesman said. He said they beat him up before they handed him over to police. “He was critically injured when he was handed over to us,” he said. The spokesman said Safdar died on the way to hospital.
