QUETTA:
India and Afghanistan’s intelligence agencies – the Research & Analysis Wing (RAW) and the National Directorate of Security (NDS), respectively – are fuelling terrorism in Balochistan to destabilise Pakistan, said the Frontier Corps Balochistan chief on Monday.
“We have achieved major targets in preventing foreign influence,” Major General Sher Afgun told editors and senior journalists during a press conference at the FC Headquarters.
“Unfortunately, Pakistan’s enemies have been using our people against our state, but we are now fighting against RAW and NDS because the people are standing with their forces.”

Talking about the security forces’ ongoing targeted operation against terrorists in Balochistan, Afgun said: “Following the launch of the operation, a sharp decline has been observed in incidents of terrorism across the province. The number of this year’s incidents is comparatively lower than last year’s.”
Besides the Kalat and Turbat incidents, there was neither any other major terror incident in Balochistan nor were any railway tracks blown up or trains attacked, he added.
The FC chief admitted that there were some problems in Turbat, Gwadar, Dera Bugti and Panjgur. “However, there is complete peace in most of the province.”

Afgun said many terrorists had been either killed or arrested in the recent months. Talking on the subject of the Baloch leadership living abroad, he said the people of Balochistan had rejected those fuelling terrorism in the province.
“In line with the package, Rs1.5 million shall be provided to the Ferraris who seek to lay down their arms,” he added.
