ISLAMABAD:

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday remanded 62 slum dwellers in judicial custody for 14 days.

Residents of Sector I-11’s informal settlement were held for allegedly attacking the police during the first day of the Afghan Basti eviction drive. The slum dwellers are accused of pelting stones on police and anti-encroachment teams of the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

The Sabzi Mandi police produced 66 suspects before ATC Judge Sohail Ikram on Monday upon expiry of their four-day physical remand.

Four of them, including 75-year-old Hazrat Ali, were discharged due to lack of evidence.
