A petition was filed by Abid Ali, who alleged that his relative, Arif Noor Baloch, an officer of the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), had been picked up from his family house in Karachi.
Two months ago, Noor Baloch had come to Karachi for treatment. It was after midnight when a team of law-enforcement agencies allegedly raided his house in Garden and took him away. Noor Baloch’s brother and mother were witnesses to the raid.
The man is missing till today, submitted his lawyer Akhtar Hussain on Monday before the SHC bench comprising Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Imam Bux Baloch.
The Deputy Attorney General (DAG) was supposed to file affidavits on behalf of the directors-general of Military Intelligence (MI) and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) on Monday but he asked the court for more time to do so.
The AAG, representing the Sindh home secretary and the SHOs of Soldier Bazaar and Jamshed Town police stations, submitted comments on behalf of the home secretary, stating that the missing person was not in the Sindh police’s custody.
The home department is, however, trying to find him.
The bench agreed to give the DAG more time to file the statements and adjourned the hearing to January 10.
