LAHORE: Justice Arshad Mahmood Tabassum of Lahore High Court on Thursday issued a notice to Sherakot police on a bail petition filed by Abeera murder case accused Uzma Rao Alias Tooba. Rao’s counsel told the court that she had been nominated in the case on the basis of video footage and a complaint by the brother of the deceased. He said Rao had been nominated in the case despite the absence of any eyewitness against her. Rao’s counsel said a sessions court had already dismissed her bail plea without appreciating the facts of the matter. Saying that she was innocent, he urged the court to set aside the decisions of the sessions court and grant her bail. Justice Tabassum issued a notice to Sherakot police for July 13 following the conclusion of initial arguments. Sherakot police had registered a case against Rao and two of her accomplices for killing Abeera Iqbal on January 12.
