‘Organised’ rigging: K-P tripartite alliance calls for province-wide strike on June 10
Ask provincial government to step down; decide to take other parties on-board to expand protest

Amid mounting tension in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the alleged rigging in local government elections, a tripartite alliance in the province has called for a province-wide shutter down strike on June 10.
They also demanded the government’s resignation on its failure to halt mass use of unfair means in the polls.
Addressing a press conference after a meeting of the constituent parties at the residence of senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Najmuddin Khan, Awami National Party's (ANP) Mian Iftikhar Hussain accused Chief Minister Pervez Khattak of orchestrating rigging.
“The CM was the head of the rigging ‘project’ and government is responsible for it,” he alleged.

He added that the alliance will establish contact with other political parties in the province, including government allies, and ask them to join their protest.
Those present on this occasion included provincial general secretary of JUI-F Maulana Shujaul Mulk, PPP’s Rahimdad Khan, ANP’s Syed Aqil Shah, Sardar Babak, Shagufta Malik and others.

The alliance that comprises PPP, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) and Awami National Party (ANP) was forged to contest the polls.
