Dozens caught in German music festival lightning strikes

Authorities say all of festival-goers involved were "in good health", would soon be able to leave the hospital

FRANKFURT: More than 30 people were taken to hospital early Saturday after lightning struck a music festival in western Germany, police said.

In total, "33 people were placed under observation in nearby hospitals", police in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate said in a statement.

According to authorities, all of the festival-goers involved were "in good health" and would soon be able to leave the hospital.

The incident occurred at the "Rock am Ring" music festival which draws tens of thousands of spectators every summer.
