Talks open monday: Nawaz visit to White House expected
A delegation headed by Pakistani Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry will attend the talks which begin on June 2
The United States and Pakistan, which begin the third round of their strategic dialogue this week in Washington, will also look for a window for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s second visit to the White House. A high-level delegation headed by Pakistani Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry will attend the talks which begin on June 2. Diplomatic sources in Washington rejected earlier media reports that PM Nawaz might visit the White House in June. However, they indicated that a visit was possible either in September or October. PM Nawaz is expected to visit New York in September to attend the UN General Assembly, which creates an opportunity for a meeting with President Obama.
