BANNU:

Several hardcore militants from Data Khel tehsil in North Waziristan have become party to the clashes taking place between rival tribal groups in the region. These clashes have taken the lives of 60 people and caused injuries to scores of others.

It was revealed that Hafiz Gul Bahadur who is from the Mada Khel clan of the Uthmanzai Wazir tribe is involved in a violent feud with his one-time close aide Gul Abdul Rahman who belongs to Peepli Kabul Khel.

Tribal sources further claim that armed loyalists of both Hafiz Gul Bahadur and Gul Abdul Rahman have been taking active part in a spate of clashes since May 8 last year.

Both are associated with the Shura-e-Mujahideen, North Waziristan, against which the government has been engaged in military action. According to unconfirmed reports, more than 60 people from both sides have been killed.
