
The Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (Parc) has trained 500 master trainers in solar pumping and sprinkle irrigation system, who will provide training to farmers in their respective areas in order to reduce water consumption in the agriculture and horticulture sectors.
National Assembly Standing Committee on National Food Security and Research Chairman Malik Shakir Bashir Awan made the statement while speaking at the 11th Professional Training Course on Watershed Rehabilitation and Irrigation Technology Improvements. The event was jointly organised by Parc and Climate Change, Alternate Energy and Water Resource Institute Islamabad. “The training will not only help farmers cope with future water scarcity but will also maximise crop production,” Awan said, adding “we have sufficient water available but what we need is proper management.”
