FAISALABAD:

Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested a man they said had assaulted a 13-year-old boy near Razaabad police station.

Muhammad Rafiq, an uncle of the victim, told The Express Tribune that his nephew, a resident of Kaleem Shaheed Colony, went to school and did not return in time. He said the family sent out a search party for him.

“When we reached Umar Farooq Town, we heard his screams from an abandoned house,” he said. He said they tried to catch the man who had assaulted the boy but he fled. He said the boy told them that he had been abducted on his way home from school and assaulted.

The Razabad SHO said police had registered a case on the family’s complaint.  He said the man was arrested from a house a few hours later. He said the family had been asked to submit the boy’s medico-legal report.
