LAHORE:

The provincial government has devised a strategy for sending skilled workers to Gulf countries, particularly Qatar and Dubai, Parliamentary Secretary for Labour and Human Resource Mian Naveed Ali said on Saturday.

“The initiative is being taken in view of the manpower demand in countries in the Middle East,” he said. He said labourers played a major role in improving the national economy.

“The government has taken steps for the labourers’ welfare. It has announced a labour policy at the occasion of the International Day for Workers. More incentives will be announced for them in the upcoming budget,” he said.

He said the government was committed to creating a skilled manpower. He said the chief minister had ordered that essential facilities be provided at labour colonies across the province. The government ensures that labourers get fixed minimum wages, he said.
