Rewind: SBBWU to prioritise history, archaeology

The VC said the move would ensure the university inculcates strong values among the students

PESHAWAR: Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU) Vice Chancellor Razia Sultana plans to initiate a department of archaeology and history at the university. According to a press release issued on Thursday, the VC said the move would ensure the university does not merely issue degree certificates to students but also helps inculcate strong values. She was speaking at a seminar at the main campus of SBBWU. It was organised in collaboration with Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan and aimed to generate awareness about Peshawar’s history and allow students to use it as a means of understanding their cultural identity, stated the press release. Speaking at the seminar, the VC said history and culture are the foundation of any nation. Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan Vice Chancellor Dr Ihsan Ali, the guest speaker at the event, spoke about the history of Peshawar from an archaeological perspective and highlighted how the city had changed over the years. According to the press release, he also invited SBBWU students and staff members to visit historical places in Mardan.
