LAHORE: The annual Jashn-i-Baharan celebrations in the city’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) concluded with the holding of a flower competition in a park in Phase V. “Like flowers Lahore also blooms in the spring”, said Muhammad Aslam, a DHA resident. He said there was no better way of appreciating this than planting more flowers and enjoying nature’s bounties. Khalida Shamim, another DHA resident, said she had walked to the event with her grandchildren as they live in the vicinity of the park. She said she had always exhorted her children to go out and explore their surroundings. “Better parks mean more outdoor activities,” Shamim said. DHA Public Relations Officer Ejaz Masood Hayat told The Express tribune that the annual festivities provided residents with an opportunity to participate in several activities and enjoy spring. He said the flower competition was the most popular event organised under the auspices of the festivities. Hayat said winners were chosen in accordance with the verdict of the jury that was composed of DHA officials, residents and personnel from the Parks and Horticulture Authority. Corps Commander Lt Gen Naveed Zaman was the chief guest at the event.
