ISLAMABAD:

A spring charity gala held here on Saturday raised Rs2.5 million for thalassaemia patients and families of police officials who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

The event was organised by the Australian High Commission in collaboration with the Serena Hotels.

Of the Rs2.5 million, 70 per cent would be donated to Jamila Sultana Foundation that works for Thalassaemia patients in Pakistan while 30 per cent will be given to an NGO, supported by the Australian High Commission, which financially supports family members of police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The gala attracted several diplomats and philanthropists.

The spring gala began with a round table seated dinner followed by performance by “The Envoys” - a band comprising ambassadors of Denmark, Japan, Bosnia and the High commissioner of Australia.
