ISLAMABAD:

As Eidul Fitr approaches, markets in the capital are experiencing brisk sales of henna stickers, emerging as a fashionable alternative to traditional mehndi.

From street vendors to established cosmetic shops in key commercial hubs such as Aabpara, G-9 Markaz, G-10, F-7 and F-10, demand for pre-designed henna stickers has surged, particularly among young women and teenagers seeking quick yet stylish designs for the festive occasion.

Henna stickers, also known as mehndi sheets, feature ready-made patterns that can be easily applied to the skin. Their growing popularity is attributed to ease of use and time-saving convenience.

Available in a wide range of styles — from intricate bridal motifs to minimalist Arabic designs — these stickers cater to diverse aesthetic preferences.

Adnan, owner of a bangles and mehndi stall in Sector G-10, said customers increasingly favour henna stickers for their practicality. "These stickers save considerable time while still delivering a neat, professional look," he explained. "In the final days before Eid, when salons are overcrowded and appointments difficult to secure, henna stickers are the most practical and accessible option for many women."

Women shoppers echoed similar sentiments, citing convenience and affordability as key reasons behind the trend. College student Sajida said: "Not everyone is skilled at applying detailed mehndi patterns. With these stickers, you can achieve elegant designs at home without spending a lot of money or visiting expensive salons, which is especially helpful during the busy Eid season."

The affordability of henna stickers compared to professional salon services has further boosted their appeal. Vendors noted the products are particularly popular among school and university students seeking budget-friendly options without compromising on style.

Retailers have responded to rising demand by offering combo packs and themed collections, while some shopkeepers provide guidance on proper application techniques to ensure optimal results. Social media tutorials and influencer content have also played a significant role in popularising the trend, making it more accessible to first-time users.

As the final days of Ramazan approach, traders expect sales to rise further, with last-minute shoppers turning to henna stickers for their practicality, affordability, and variety.

With evolving consumer preferences and the growing influence of digital trends, henna stickers are rapidly becoming a staple of Eid preparations in the capital, blending traditional aesthetics with modern convenience
