PM calls for conferring posthumous gallantry awards to Peshawar school attack victims
Martyred teachers, students, staff members will receive two of the highest civilian awards

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has advised President Mamnoon Hussain to confer Sitara-e-Shujaat (Posthumous) and Tamgha-e-Shujaat (Posthumous) to the victims of the Army Public School attack in Peshawar.
According to sources, a summary has been sent to the president, which may be signed shortly.
The victims, who will receive two of the highest civilian awards, include martyred teachers, students, and staff members of the army-run school.
The decision has been taken to pay homage to the 122 students, two teachers and 20 staff members of the school who were martyred in the December 16 terror attack.
Following the Peshawar attack, the country’s political leadership approved a comprehensive plan of action against terrorism in a move described by the prime minister as a ‘defining moment’ in the fight against terrorism.
The 20-point National Action Plan included execution of convicted terrorists; establishment of special trial courts for two years for speedy trial of terror suspects; countering hate speech and extremist material, and choking financing for terrorists and terrorist organisations.
