LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) will bring former state minister for defence Habibullah Warraich’s son Mohsin Warraich, nominated accused of the National Insurance Corporation Limited (NICL) scam, to Pakistan before December 9, FIA Punjab’s Director Zafar Qureshi said.

At a press briefing, Qureshi claimed they have made all preparations for Mohsin Warraich’s arrest. He said that the Interpol has already issued red warrants for Mohsin Warraich, which had been forwarded to the British government as Warraich had fled from Dubai to UK. The FIA, he said, is also in touch with the British High Commission.

He said that once Mohsin Warraich is arrested, the FIA will also try to bring his wife Beenish Khan to Pakistan. “Khan is a British national so FIA will have to collect all evidence against her, before arresting her,” he said.

Speaking about another nominated accused Javed Syed, who was on NICL’s board of directors, Qureshi said that Syed had managed to escape to UK in June, before cases were registered. The FIA, he said, is trying to arrest him as well. Syed has been declared proclaimed offender by the court and Interpol will soon be contacted to issue red warrants for him.

He said that the FIA had so far arrested 10 people involved in the scam, including Major (retd) Habibullah Warraich and seven NICL directors.

Javed Syed and Warrich need to be arrested and handed to teh Pakistani authorities for interroagtion - and if found guilty thier assets should be confiscated and they should spend at least 10 -15 years in jail with everyone else in this case.
