KARACHI:

How is the city to be kept clean when the salaries, medical allowances and insurances of the employees of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and the District Municipal Corporation (DMC) are not taken care of, asked KMC CBA union president Zulfiqar Ali Shah, during a meeting with KMC administrator Saqib Soomro on Friday.

Shah told The Express Tribune on Saturday that they were called on by the administrator to discuss the lingering issues of the KMC employees. The issues being faced by 58,000 employees of the KMC include medical allowances, fire risk allowances, leave encashment, gratuity, group insurance and other dues.

The administrator assured Shah that the issues will be resolved. According to a press release, he has also asked the union to point out the number of ghost employees of the department.
