On Wednesday an award distribution ceremony was held in which 102 personnel of Police, Anti-Terrorism Force (ATF) and Balochistan Constabulary (BC) were awarded certificates for successful completion of their training. The training lasted eight weeks under the supervision of the Pakistan Army. Trained instructors imparted the rigorous training to the personnel of the various law enforcement agencies (LEAs).
Talking to journalists, Commander Southern Command Lieutenant-General Khalid Zia praised the performance of the trainees and said that they have immense potential and are capable of dealing with challenges. “Such training will enhance the confidence of our LEAs and it will also instill fear in elements involved in creating law and order problems,” he said.
Provincial police chief, Malik Mohammad Iqbal said that it is impossible for the police to counter terrorism in Balochistan until and unless the quality of training is enhanced. “The police force needs such training in the future as well to maintain peace and overcome terrorism in Balochistan,” he said.
The Pakistan Army has provided training to 260 police personnel this year and plans are in place to impart training to another 200 personnel next year.
