A full bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) asked representatives of traders on Thursday to give suggestions for security arrangements for December 15, the day Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf has vowed to shut down Lahore.
The bench, comprising Justice Khalid Mehmood Khan, Justice Shahid Hameed Dar and Justice Muhammad Anwarul Haq, heard the petition, filed by a traders’ representative, Naeem Mir.
Capital City Police Officer Amin Wains appeared before the bench and said that a security plan was in place and police would come up with a new strategy to maintain law and order in the city during the protest.
“I am hopeful that a Faisalabad-like situation will not occur in Lahore,” the CCPO said. The petitioner said that police and city administration had not consulted traders on the security plan.
The bench directed the CCPO to engage all the traders and take their suggestions for making a comprehensive security plan for December 15.
The bench asked the traders representatives to be present in court with their suggestions at the next hearing scheduled for Friday (today).
