Illegal arms case: ATC reserves verdict against alleged militant

Two hand grenades, an unlicensed weapon and ammunition were seized from the suspect's possession

An anti-terrorism court reserved on Tuesday its judgment in a case of possession of illicit weapons and explosives against an alleged al-Qaeda activist, Sheikh Adil Abu Zaman.


According to the prosecution, the suspect, who is also believed to be a local commander of the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, was arrested by the police in September last year from a house in Baloch Colony.


Two hand grenades, an unlicensed weapon and ammunition were seized from his possession.


The anti-terrorism court-IX judge adjourned the hearing till December 15 for a verdict in the cases after both the sides completed their arguments.


Two FIRs were registered against Abu Zaman under Sections 4 and 5 of the Explosives Substances Act and Section 23(1)-A of the Sindh Arms Act, read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, at the Baloch Colony police station.
