He was chairing a meeting regarding crime control in the Saddar and City divisions. Ashraf promised to cooperate with dedicated officers and provide them with requisite support needed to effectively discharge their duties. He said no tolerance would be shown to those guilty of corruption and laxity. Ashraf stressed the importance of remaining vigilant to protect the life and property of the people.
He said police could combat the plans of anti-state elements with a comprehensive strategy. Ashraf said teams patrolling the divisions had to be made more effective to control crime. He said pickets should be placed around the city, policemen should patrol areas on motorcycles and plain clothed policemen should be deployed to guarantee fool-proof city across Lahore.
Ashraf said they should strive to nab those responsible for robberies, extortion and abductions. He said the incidence of people getting murdered for resisting robbery attempts was not acceptable. Ashraf said SPs and DSPs should personally inspect such crime scenes.
Ashraf said SHOs held responsible for submitting fake raid dairies would be relieved of their duties. He said the shortage of manpower would be addressed soon but no negligence would be tolerated with regard to securing shops, jewellery salons and banks. Ashraf said gunmen should be deployed and CCTV cameras should be installed there.
Show-cause notices were issued to the Sundar SHO, the Raiwind SHO, the Township SHO, the Quaid-i-Azam Industrial Estate, the Naulakha SHO, the Shahdara SHO, the Rang Mahal SHO, the Data Darbar SHO, the Lower Mall SHO and the Hanjerwal SHO and an explanation was demanded from the Raiwind and Islampura DSPs in the meeting.
The DIG awarded cash prizes and certificates to the Akbari and Masti Gate SHOs. He also praised the Rang Mahal and Green Town SHOs on the occasion.
Ashraf said officials should treat policemen in a befitting manner to raise their morale. He also directed those present to initiative daily searches and hasten the collection of data regarding tenants in the city.
