Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Wednesday that the government was committed to providing the people with clean drinking water and the Saaf Pani Project had been launched in this regard.
He was speaking to ENTA president Uzi Sezer. The chief minister said the project would cover 18 districts in the Punjab. He said providing the people with access to potable water was a primary responsibility of the state. Sharif said rapid progress was being made on the project. The chief minister said the people would be provided with potable water on the project’s completion. He said the project had also generated job opportunities for the youth.
Sharif said filtration plants would be set-up across the Punjab in phases. The chief minister said water schemes would also be revived to provide the people with potable water. He said the project was of vital importance as public health was inextricably linked with access to safe drinking water. Sezer expressed a desire to invest in water projects on the occasion. Sharif said several Turkish companies had made investments in numerous projects across the Punjab. He said the government was committed to facilitating foreign investors.
The Saaf Pani Company chairperson, chief executive officer and several other government officials were also present on the occasion.
Shahbaz shows satisfaction over Ashura arrangements:
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday showed satisfaction over security arrangements made during Ashura.
He praised the law enforcement agencies for discharging their duties in a befitting manner. The chief minister said the comprehensive measures taken by the government in this regard had resulted in the successful maintenance of public order. Sharif said district authorities and law enforcement agencies had stringently adhered to the security plan formulated in this regard. He commended them for effectively implementing it.
Sharif said the cabinet committee for the maintenance of law and order had also played a crucial role in this regard. The chief minister said committee members had played an important role in monitoring and ensuring fool-proof security arrangements. Sharif praised religious leaders for stressing the need of inter-sectarian harmony. He said they had played a vital role in maintaining peace and brotherhood. The chief minister said they should strive to foster a similar atmosphere in the future too.
