
The demand was made at a convention organised by the Labour Education Foundation (LEF) at Mehfil Hall on Monday.
The convention had been arranged to mark the annual Home Based Workers’ Day. LEF executive director Khalid Mahmood said such workers made a huge contribution to the economy.
He said their demands regarding minimum wages, status as workers, social security schemes and modern vocational training should be met.
Labour Department Deputy Secretary Maleeha Rasheed said the department had been working to resolve the issues faced by home-based workers.
The participants expressed their resolve to continue their struggle for the rights of women working in the informal sector.
