LAHORE:

The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather alert forecasting widespread rain across the province from April 1 to 4.

PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia stated on Monday that rain is expected in most districts, including Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Gujrat, Khushab and Mandi Bahauddin.

According to the PDMA, rain-bearing systems are also expected to affect Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Jhang, Chiniot, Bhakkar and Layyah, with the possibility of heavy rainfall in Dera Ghazi Khan and adjoining areas.

The authority issued instructions to commissioners and deputy commissioners across Punjab to remain on alert and ensure preparedness for any emergency situation.

In its advisory, the PDMA urged citizens to take precautionary measures during thunderstorms, particularly avoiding open areas during lightning.

Farmers have been advised to safeguard their crops in view of the changing weather conditions.

The authority also cautioned tourists planning visits to northern areas to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines during the period.
