At least two labourers died of suffocation while working in a well in Korangi on Sunday.
The men suffocated due to a poisonous gas inside the well in a cattle farm situated in Korangi, within the limits of Awami Colony police station.
Following this, rescuers from different welfare associations and the fire brigade department were called to retrieve them. However, their task was made difficult by the large crowd that had gathered. Law enforcers were therefore called to disperse the crowd.

The rescuers were able to recover the bodies after hours of hard work. The deceased were then identified as Mashood Khan and Omar. Their bodies were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsies.
SHO Ahmed Butt said that the well was around 120 feet deep, adding that the men were killed almost instantly by the poisonous gas. No case has so far been registered as the incident is thought to be accidental. However, Butt added that the police are still waiting for the post-mortem report.
