LAHORE: The Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Inqilab March left for Islamabad on Thursday after authorities ordered that containers placed in the streets leading to Model Town be removed. Police who had been busy stacking containers in the area retreated after the administration decided to let the PAT take out its rally. “PAT office-bearers have assured us that they will remain peaceful and carry no weapons,” said Capital City Police Officer Zulfiqar Hameed. He said policemen had been asked not to create any hurdle in the way of the rally. However, top police officers including the CCPO and the operations deputy inspector general were seen taking shelter in the Model Town police officer on seeing PAT workers carrying batons, catapults, shields and gas masks.
