DI KHAN: A 100KV transformer supplying electricity to Khairabad Colony in DI Khan developed a fault yet again, prompting hundreds of demonstrators to convene a protest walk from the colony to New Bannu Chungi area. “We have been complaining again and again but there is no one to take notice of the miseries faced by us in Ramazan,” a resident of the area, Abdul Khaliq, told The Express Tribune. The protesters chanted slogans against Pesco, Wapda and the local government. Later, demonstrators dispersed peacefully after the DI Khan police reached New Bannu Chungi to calm them by assuring they would speak to the officials. Meanwhile, around 70 poles and the grid station building of Gomal University collapsed, cutting off electricity in dozens of towns.
