ISLAMABAD: Dozens of students gathered outside the National Press Club on Tuesday to protest against the Israeli incursion into Gaza.

The protesters carried banners  inscribed with slogans in favour of Palestinians and chanted slogans against what they termed Israeli atrocities. They demanded immediate end to the Israeli aggression and action against those responsible for killing innocent civilians.

The protesters urged the Pakistani government to take urgent and necessary action at all forums.

Students also held a token walk around Sector F-6 in protest, and asked for an explanation to United Nations’ inability to solve the issue and end the fighting.

Earlier in the day, the protesters met Ambassador of Palestine Abu Waleed, in Sector F-8, to condemn Israeli action and to show solidarity, unity and support with the people of Palestine.

According to Ali Aamir, an activist present at the protest, the meeting with the ambassador included a prayer for peace in the region. The ambassador appealed for help and asked for the public to show a soft corner for war victims.

The young members of the protest concluded the event by unanimously agreeing that peaceful and non-violent means were the only effective measures that should be considered to stop Israeli aggression.

They agreed that social media, especially Facebook, was the best weapon to spread awareness about what was going on in Palestine.
