Twelve people allegedly forced entry into their rivals’ house near Rahim Yar Khan and thrashed them on Friday night for filing a complaint with police against them. Police said 12 people including two women broke into Ghulam Abbas’ house in Nooraywali village late on Friday night.
They tied up the family and beat them up. They allegedly tore a woman’s clothes and broke Basheeran Bibi’s teeth. C-Division police arrived at the scene and arrested three of those accused. Abbas alleged that the police later released them. He said Investigation Officer Javed Khan had taken a bribe from the accused.
Abbas said his mother Naseem Akhtar had earlier registered a case against the accused for threatening to kill her.
Abbas and his family members protested against the police for not taking action against the suspects. He also sent a written complaint to Rahim Yar Khan DPO Sohail Zafar Chattha. The DPO told The Express Tribune that action would be taken against the police officer if the allegations were found to be true.
