The Punjab government on Thursday ordered the local administrations to ensure strict monitoring of all unregistered religious seminaries.
A spokesman of the Faisalabad city district government, Muhammad Akram, said on Thursday that the government was collecting data of all the religious seminaries being run throughout the province.
“During this drive, the security agencies reported that a number of religious seminaries are operating in Faisalabad district that have not been registered so far,” Akram said. “In such unregistered seminaries, some people are allegedly involved in suspicious activities. Therefore, action should be taken against all the unregistered seminaries,” he said.
On the report of the intelligence agencies, he said the government had issued directions to the local administrations as well as district police to monitor the activities of such seminaries. He stated that the government had also directed the administration of unregistered seminaries to get them registered or action would be taken against them, he added.
