Three employees of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) were set on fire by unidentified men while trying to disconnect an illegal gas connection in a factory.
The incident occurred at the Samundri Road when an SNGPL team responded to a tip-off that a factory was stealing gas. The SNGPL officials said staff members Sajjad Ahmad, Ishtiaq Mashi and Khalid Mashi reached the factory and found that the gas was being stolen through an illegal connection.
“The SNGPL employees were detaching the illegal gas connection from the main gas supply line when someone turned on the gas supply with full pressure. It caught fire and all three men received serious burn injuries,” SNGPL officials said. They were taken to Faisalabad Allied Hospital, where the condition of two of them is stated to be serious. Police said they had not received an official complaint about the incident so far.
