Malik questions alleged use of Indian weapons in airport attack

PPP senator says govt should find the origin of the 'Indian weapons'.

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Rehman Malik on Saturday questioned how the supposed Indian weapons used in the brazen attack at the Karachi airport entered Pakistan.

He was speaking to the media at the Jinnah International Airport on Saturday.

At least 37 people, including 10 terrorists, were killed in the all-night battle that started on June 8.

Malik also remarked that the government should find the origin of the 'Indian weapons'.

"Karachi airport seige is a replication of the attack at PNS Mehran base with one difference: a civilian airport was attacked for the first time, " the PPP leader commented.

Terrorists slipped into the Mehran airbase on May 22, 2011, killing at least 15 people, including security personnel, destroying two P3-C Orion surveillance aircraft and holding off military commandos for 15 hours.

Speaking at the airport today, Malik also said that the image of the country has been adversely affected because of the attack.

He added that the government should learn a lesson from this attack and enhance security at all the airports.
