BAHAWALPUR:

A man who recently returned from Saudi Arabia was shot and killed in a robbery late on Wednesday night.

Police said Haji Fayyaz Ahmed, a resident of Dera Nawab near Ahmadpur East, had been working in Saudi Arabia for fours years and had returned a week ago for his daughter’s wedding.

Police said two armed men broke into his house late in the night and held up the family.

They collected valuables, including dowry items, and tried to flee when Ahmed tried to stop them. One of them shot him.

Ahmed was taken to Ahmadpur East Civil Hospital where he was given first aid and later referred him to Bahawal Victoria Hospital where he died. Muhammad Imran, his nephew told newsmen the robbers dropped some of the jewellery and cash as they fled.
