Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Sajjad Hussain Sindher on Thursday handed out life-imprisonment on two counts to seven members of a gang involved in kidnapping a transporter for ransom on Thursday.


Prosecution said the men had kidnapped Basheer Ahmad from Dera Ghazi Khan and took him to Chakwal and demanded Rs5 million ransom from his father.

Police said his father paid the ransom and had his son released.  They said later, he filed a complaint with the police.

The judge announced life sentences on two counts for seven members of the inter-province robbery gang.

A woman, Shahina Bibi, was acquitted by the court for lack of evidence against her.
