GUJRAT: An inspector of the CIA police and six of his alleged accomplices were arrested on Tuesday for kidnapping two men for ransom. Cousins Yasir and Khalil, residents of Kharian, had written an application to Gujrat District Police Officer Rai Aijaz stating that CIA Inspector Sajid Nazir Bhaddar kidnapped them on May 28 for Rs3 million as ransom.

They said that they had been ‘arrested’ without a warrant or FIR for allegedly operating an illegal phone exchange.

They said that the policemen took them to the inspector’s dera instead of the police station where they threatened to kill them and demanded Rs3 million from their family.

The district police officer held an inquiry on the matter and on Tuesday ordered the arrest of Inspector Sajid Nazir Bhaddar, Assistant Sub Inspector Muhammad Mushtaq, Constable Muhammad Naeem and three other policemen.

The district police officer told The Express Tribune that if Yasir and Khalil were guilty as charged, the police should have registered an FIR and taken them to a police station.
