A custodian of a shrine situated in the capital’s suburbs was shot dead on Thursday morning, said the police.


Asad Pirzada, custodian of Darbar Hayat Buxsh located in Kirpa union council was killed by his neighbour because of a dispute they had earlier. Pirzada was working as a clerk in the Islamabad Commissioner’s office. According to the police, Pirzada was in a mosque adjacent to the shrine when he was killed by his neighbour Waheed Ahmed after Fajr prayers. Ahmed shot him with a 12-bore pistol.

Koral police has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Waheed on the complaint of Pirzada’s uncle, Sanaullah, who witnessed the murder. The police have yet to arrest the culprit.  Investigation Officer (IO) Bashirullah claimed that he had raided Ahmed’s house, but he was not present at home.

He said the police were trying to arrest him. The body was handed over to the family after postmortem at Pims.
