Mamnoon urged the youth to utilise their knowledge to take the country out of the current mess.

The president said that the country was facing three major issues — economic, law and order and education — which had to be surmounted through collective efforts.

The president stressed the need to make progress in science and technology.

He said that only with persistent hard work, perseverance and discipline they could succeed in life.

Mamnoon said that since its inception, the university has made great strides in setting high standards in the domain of management and social sciences, information technology, computer and medicine.

He urged the faculty and students not to be deterred by challenges and work with zeal and commitment to take the country on the path of progress and prosperity.

He congratulated the students on their outstanding academic performances.

FUI President Lt-Gen Muhammad Mustafa Khan said the university was a project of the Fauji Foundation - a charitable trust for the welfare of ex-servicemen and their dependents. He said it was also one of the largest contributors in taxes and paid Rs122 billion last year.

FUI Rector Major-Gen Gul Muhammad highlighted progress and academic excellence. He said that smart campuses with modern classrooms and video conferencing facilities were being set up. He said that a total of 784 graduates were awarded degrees including seven PhDs.
