Edhi is the founder of Edhi Foundation, which is the largest social welfare system in Pakistan. The foundation changes the famous phrase 'live and let live' to 'live and help live'. It helps people from all races, religions, castes and colour without any discrimination.
The social worker was also the Tribune person of the year last year.
His contribution to Pakistan as an activist and humanitarian is irrefutable.
"My religion is humanitarianism... which is the basis of every religion in the world," are some of Edhi's great words that have won the hearts of millions of people.
Edhi has been helping people since the past 56 years and has gained the love and affection of all people irrespective of religion.
Because of his work, Edhi is often invited to speak at various occasions. However, in an interview Edhi had remarked, "I want to request the people not to invite me to social gatherings and inaugural ceremonies. This only wastes my time which is wholly devoted to the well being of our people." This speaks a lot about his character and his devotion to help people.
