The resolution was presented by Sindh Education Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro who said that Ali should take his remarks regarding the people of Sindh back. Ali had allegedly said that the people of Sindh were electricity thieves.
Condemning the statement by the minister, Khuhro demanded that Ali should apologise to the people of Sindh for his remarks.
None of the PML-N representatives in the provincial assembly objected to the resolution.
Sindh Minister for Information and Local Government Sharjeel Inam Memon also spoke against Abid, stating that he should not have used such language.

does his behavior seem as the representative of federation? PML (N) should train professionalism to her ministers..
The minister should have used politically correct language in this context. However, there is no doubt that power distribution companies (DISCOs) in Sindh, KPK and Baluchistan suffer huge losses annually due to electricity theft and non-payment of electricity bills by consumers of these provinces.
I have lived for some time in Sindh and have heard some of my friends openly declare that they do not take the electricity and gas bills seriously. Whenever their electricity and gas connections are cut-off due to non-payment, they simply go to local politician and get their connections restored.
Similarly, in Karachi KUNDA CULTURE is very common.
Perhaps, our politicians need to educate people about the basic civic responsibilities instead of creating political and ethnic divisions with their catchy remarks and foolish resolutions.
All the theft against any person or province by any person, state or security organization should be apologized and if this has been done from the powerful people of the powerful province than atleast a minister from that province should not open his mouth (a mouth that has already caused so many problems for friends and opponents alike)
PML-N's anti-Karachi agenda is always crystal clear.
He should have used better language, but the fact remains that at least 40% of Karachiites don't pay their bills. Whereas all G.T road cities have a 90%< bill paying rate.
The resolution should have said: Yes the people of Sindh are electricity thieves, so as people of KPK, so as People of Punjab and elsewhere. Why pinpoint thieves.
This man couldn't tell the back of a horse from the front.
87% of Punjab is steeling electricity and gas but they are not thives! KP should have done the same as Sind!
Sher Ali deserves an honorary PhD in communications .
I can't trust the numbers Nawaz Sharif and his cohorts present. They have the reputation of lying repeatedly. Second, it is hard to believe that there isn't massive electricity theft in Punjab. Everyone seems to be obeying the law. Only crimes in Punjab are either pedophilia, rape, or blasphemy. Fraud is a distant past now. Murder, terrorism, and kidnapping never happened here. Cheating in exams... what is that? Never heard of it in Punjab.
PMLN has a history of treating others with contempt. While 60% of the taxes are collected from Sindh, PMLN never burps while gulping it.
Abid Sher Ali....we are with ya! Go after these thieves who pilferage with such blatant impunity.
Five Years under President Asif Zardari Sind did not develop even by not paying. There is only one Shorab Goth Bridge to interior Sind built by Z. A. Bhutto. Surprisingly all goods including NATO containers use the bridge. Sind not paying bills, not surprised.
Aik to chori us par seena zori.
The power bill recovery rate in Punjab is 88% in comparison to 33% for the rural Sindh. Was the minister wrong in calling the province thief?
@Imdad: You talk about conscience or morality. Please explain Raiwind & other billions abroad?
aren't we one nation?
i live in lahore. one of my friend's uncle works in LESCO, where employees of LESCO run business of corruption bluntly. they fix monthly amount with hostels, hotels, and etc against allegedly providing electricity.
quite a few get killed in karachi(SINDH) everyday never have i seen such a quick resolution passed by them(sindh assembly members) against the killers,..
People expect to get electricity and not pay for it. PPP did a great job in destroying the country, now trying to gain political mileage by playing the Sindh Card as usual.
What have they got to show for being in power for the previous 6 yrs in Sindh, other than the massive bank accounts that they have been able to build overseas. Spent 5 years talking about building Bhasha Dam, but on ground nothing happened. Sadly its a waste of time appealing to their consciense or morality as they have none left.
No matter what they do, where they reach, some people just can’t come out of their preconditioned prejudices against small provinces. As previous record of this party, trend continues unabated again this time around as well.
....the truth is always hard to swallow.......especially when it is mouthed by one who is himself perceived as dicey.
The "alleged" means it never happened. This resolution means that rich people are not going to pay their bills instead they are going to hide behind the poor Sindhi people.
Very nice
This man is sick. Apart from Punjab govt. every other provincial government is complaining against this man. He is a bigger threat to Nawaz Govt than any other secret agency
