RAWALPINDI:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidates for national and provincial assemblies, along with district, tehsil, and city leaders in Rawalpindi, have expedited their city-wide communication campaign ahead of the protest on November 24.

Party leaders, including National Assembly candidates, are distributing pamphlets in neighbourhoods, streets, and markets to mobilise public support for the demonstration. Meanwhile, a significant number of PTI workers and activists have gone underground to evade potential arrests. Many have stopped staying at their homes overnight to avoid detention.

In a related move, PTI workers have decided to refrain from appearing in court hearings this week for cases filed against the party over the last three years.

Instead, they are filing exemption applications through their lawyers, citing health-related reasons or family engagements. During recent hearings of 13 cases linked to the May 9 incident, about 80% of PTI workers and leaders submitted such applications.

Prominent PTI leaders, including Seemabia Tahir, Shehriyar Riaz, MPA Tanveer Aslam, Khaliq Zia Kiyani, and Raja Rashid Hafeez, have been actively distributing protest pamphlets and engaging with the public in local markets and residential areas.

Wall chalking promoting the protest has also begun in various parts of the city.

Assembly candidate Seemabia Tahir expressed optimism about the event, saying "Workers and the public will participate in the protest with great enthusiasm on Sunday, November 24. It will be a peaceful demonstration."
