Commenting on the recent development, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) intermediary Professor Ibrahim said that the change of governor will not affect peace talks.
Shaukatullah Khan was appointed to this post by the then president Asif Ali Zardari on February 9, last year.
On March 23, 2014, Khan had said that the federal government had decided to replace him and that he will leave the office in honour of that decision.
Around a week after that, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had decided that Khan would be replaced by Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan Abbasi.
A PML-N official had told The Express Tribune that the party chief and prime minister has finalised Abbasi’s name.

@Adnan Siddiqi: Is that a crisis or a storm in a tea cup. If 'perspective' could be bought from the local utility store, I would have suggested you to go and buy some.
@ Rex Minor The Governor of KP also functions as Chief Executive of FATA and in that respect he has no comparison with with governors of other provinces.
@non political: Please check your facts first. The Flour ("atta") Crisis in NWFP was during 1996-97, whereas Sardar Mahtab became Chief Minister after the general elections held in February 1997. Your knowledge of facts is very bad. You must know that the crisis took place in 1996 when people were compelled to eat substandard wheat flour Source: http://www.pakissan.com/english/news/newsDetail.php?newsid=171 and NWFP to import wheat of its choice of high quality on its own cost as done in 1996-97 from outside world.” Source: http://www.dawn.com/news/329535/peshawar-phc-asks-govt-to-approach-centre-on-flour-issue Obviously you wanted to mislead the people by making a false allegation! So bad :)
@non political:
Is the ATTA crisis of 1998 bigger than the current crisis of executive leadership in KPK which is being held hostage at the whims of a remote control based in Banigala and folks like Jehangir Tareen and Azam Swati?
Sardar,,, wadeera , chaudhry will be better result oriented than a Engineer ??? Nice job .PML (N) keep it up
Please do not replace him with another flunky of the central Government. KPK has now an elected Government and the post of Governor is no longer needed. Stop this practice of the colonial times.

An excellent choice. People from the tribal areas desperately need an honest and a competent administrator like Abasi. We do not need a lyricist in Pashto language. We had enough of those pseudo intellectuals who robbed us of every thing including our livelihood.Tribal people are left with nothing. Our miserable conditions and our agonies speak for the policies of those who never bothered to think for a moment that we are human being and a part of Pakhtoon culture.We have been subjected to innumerable miseries and we can not take it any more.May be,I repeat, this is the last chance for our survival.
ATTA crisses in 1998 in NWFP was a gift of Mehtab Abbasi; same man brought again as governer.....shame
Now whatever progress has been made in FATA will be reversed.
Mehtab Abbasi has good administrative capabilities; in his previous stint as CM he produced sufficient proof to that effect. Wishing him success, and hope he will make serious efforts to learn bare minimum Pashto.
No one in Pakistan ever resigns on principle (except a few army officials, for whom I have great respect).
Replacement of Governor from FATA by Mehtab is a bad choice in this time frame,
