President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday appointed former Federal Minister for States and Frontier Region Engineer Shaukatullah as Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Radio Pakistan reported.

Shaukatullah will be replacing former governor Syed Masood Kausar, who was also a former senator of the Pakistan Peoples Party.

At his previous position, Shaukatullah helped devise strategies for Afghan refugees in Pakistan.

The Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) in December of last year shot down a proposal to grant visa permits 150,000 refugees for a long-term stay in Pakistan.

It would have been better if a neutral person, known for his honesty and dedication was appointed. The current political situation of the country just demand it so.I wish that this appointment doesn't trigger a fresh hue and cry, affecting the election process negatively.

He is MNA from Bajaur Agency - affiliated with PPP. His father remained MNA twice. As minister of SAFRON he did 'naught' for the FATA people. As Governor of KPK, people expect him to do 'naught' from them. He is a typical feudal politician (educated one though) just like the many many ruling this unfortunate nation since decades.
