FAISALABAD:

“As many as 243 policemen have been deployed at district courts to beef up security,” City Police Officer (CPO) Haidar Ashraf said on Thursday.

Talking to the media, he said the additional force had been deployed following the clash between police and lawyers on Wednesday.

He said, “210 police jawans, 14 assistant sub-inspectors, eight sub-inspectors and seven inspectors will perform security duties at the district courts.”

Ashraf said three deputy superintendents and a superintendent would supervise the deployment.

The city police officer said 28 police jawans would be deployed outside the sessions courts and 16 at the district court’s gate.

“The remaining force will perform duties at Gate 1 and Gate 2 and surrounding areas,” he said.

“We will use the rest of the force to deal with any emergency,” he said.
