LAHORE: The Supreme Court on Monday directed the inspector general of the Punjab police to release the list showing seniority of deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) in the province in two weeks. A two-judge bench of the apex court passed the order on a petition moved by DSP Safdar Kazmi, who had sought contempt proceedings against the IGP for not releasing the seniority list despite a court order. A provincial law officer told the bench that a list of 678 DSPs had been prepared and would be released soon. He said the court order would be complied with in letter and spirit. He asked the court to dismiss the petition. The bench disposed of the petition with a direction to issue the seniority list within two weeks.
