Express October 27, 2010

Five people were killed in two separate drone strikes in the North Waziristan region.

The first drone strike hit a compound allegedly housing militants in Mir Ali, killing two according to official sources. According to Express 24/7 correspondent, Iftikhar Firdous, the house reportedly owned by a man named Naseem was located in the Sheenpoon area.

The second drone hit a vehicle in Datta Khel killing three people and injuring two others. The total toll from the strikes stands at five.

The United States has massively ramped up its drone campaign in the northwest tribal region on the Afghan border, amid intelligence claims of a Mumbai-style terror plot to launch attacks on European cities. Drone strikes reached an all time high in September last month.

In a separate incident, an explosion in Qamarabad, Khyber Agency injured a peace committee supreme commander and other volunteers. Ten people were injured in the explosion.

Kashif Hasan | 13 years ago | Reply The lives claimed in said drone attacks on terrorist's hideouts were all involved in unrest or some innocent were too victimized there like children and women? There is a need of some objective reports in this regard.
