Three explosions leave two injured in Karachi

KARACHI: Two unidentified assailants on motorcycles attempted an attack on Labour Union General Secretary Muhammad Noor in SITE area of Karachi, Express News reported on Friday.

The attackers threw a hand grenade on the general secretary's car in Metroville but he remained unharmed.

Noor said that unidentified extortionists had demanded that he give them Rs5 million a week prior to this incident, and when he refused, they had threatened to kill him.

In a separate incident, two people were injured when a hand grenade exploded in Sohrab Goth area of Karachi.

Unidentified persons had flung a grenade at a police mobile but a high-roof van got in the way and the two people inside the vehicle were injured.

The injured were initially thought to be the attackers but district Central SSP Amir Farooqui clarified that this was not the case.

They were taken to Civil Military Hospital for treatment.

Police said that an investigation is ongoing.

Earlier today, an explosion was heard in Pirabad near a graveyard. No loss of life was reported from either of the blasts.

In a separate incident, the body of an unidentified person was found in a house in New Karachi's Godhra Colony.
